- DataScope reads and writes 2D 4-byte floating
- point data in HDF; allows text files to be read and
- converted to data; reads HDF palettes; generates
- images, interpolated images, and polar images;
- magnifies images; allows the user to specify data
- attributes such as data display format,
- elimination of outliers in displayed images, data
- column and row labels, and dataset labels;
- performs standard Macintosh clipboard copy and
- paste; and performs mathematical operations on
- the data via a notebook that can be saved with
- the data. The viewing of several data sets is
- facilitated by the synchronization feature, and
- subregions of the 2D data can be extracted from
- the original dataset. User-written subroutines
- can be used via the notebook to perform
- operations on the data.
- New features of this version of DataScope
- include the ability to link to a remote host (eg, a
- Cray), run programs that generate 2D data, and
- route the output back to DataScope on the Mac
- for viewing and additional processing. In
- addition, user-written subroutines residing on the
- remote host can be applied to 2D datasets in
- DataScope via the notebook.
- USER FEEDBACK ON THE DESIRABILITY OF GIVEN
- FEATURES WILL PLAY A LARGE PART IN
- PRIORITIZING THE INCLUSION OF THOSE FEATURES
- IN FUTURE VERSIONS OF NCSA DATASCOPE.
